Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This policy describes the personal data that Guru Checker collects when you visit the site, what we do with it and the rights you have over it. We try to keep things short and in plain language; if anything is unclear, please get in touch.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the operator of the Guru Checker website. You can reach us through the contact channel listed on the home page for any privacy-related request.
What we collect
- Account data. The email address you sign up with and a hashed copy of your password (or your Google identifier if you sign in with Google).
- Billing data. If you purchase paid access, our payment provider receives your payment details. We only store a customer reference and the status of your subscription — we never see your card number.
- Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) used to keep the Service running and to detect abuse.
- Cookies and local storage. A minimal set of first-party items needed to keep you signed in and to remember your theme preference. No third-party advertising cookies are used.
Why we use it
- To create your account and let you sign in.
- To deliver the paid features you have purchased.
- To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud.
- To respond to your support messages.
- To comply with our legal obligations (for example tax records).
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for behavioural advertising.
Who can see it
Your data is processed on our behalf by a small number of carefully chosen service providers: a cloud hosting provider that runs the database and the application, an authentication provider that handles sign-in, and a payment provider that processes purchases. Each of them is bound by a data-processing agreement and is allowed to use the data only to provide the service we asked for.
Where it is stored
Data is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider. Some of those servers may be located outside your country of residence; in that case standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards apply to transfers, as required by applicable law.
How long we keep it
- Account data: for as long as your account is active, plus a short grace period after deletion to honour backups.
- Billing data: for the period required by accounting and tax law (typically 7 to 10 years).
- Server logs: a few weeks, unless retained longer to investigate a security incident.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to certain processing, or to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the channel listed on the home page; we reply within one month.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, please let us know and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
When we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the Service after the new version is published constitutes acceptance.
